Go for the Winnie... if it's not available when you decide, a rig with slideouts will always feel roomier when parked than a non-slide rig, even if the slideout rig is 10 feet shorter. We don't have them on ours and I'm now wishing we did. Good luck!

I think the Winnebago looks the best of the three you pictured. We were not sure of a slide when we were looking at campers as we were concerned about leaks, etc. However, we were convinced by our dealer slides were the way to go for space and also for resale value. We have a small travel trailer and are sure glad for that added space from our slide out. And, so far, no leaks....knock on wood!!!

Thank you, all for the kind responses! I was pretty deflated after my visit.

I am very glad to hear you guys liked the Winnebago, since I wasn't sure.

Angie, Glad I got to see pics of your nice rig! That looks like a house, to me. ; )

Clarke, I was worried you weren't going to be happy about the 275 HP Winnie...

Lady Di, that link was very helpful. I read the review. I'm with you in *loving* the style of the vintage/modern RVs. (Though hungover with 80s decor was a bad mix.)

James, I dream of that day! (But I can't do it in heels? ; )

Again, you guys are the best!

Thanks,

In HEELS?
Good Lord, lady wait til you finish your mechanic classes, and you'll be in jeans and can talk shop with the "boys", and crawl all over the motor.
Slides are a good choice, and I think the Winnies are good units. Check with your friends over at rv.net, they are the experts.
Good Luck in your search, take your time. You are doing the right thing.
I'm enjoying watching you grow.

I LIKE that Winnie!

The Foretravel looked dark and dreary, and those chair covers!!! ARGH! Imagine waking to that with a hangover...hehheh!
here's a link to a 2000 Winnie review http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/featuredvehicles/131_0007_2000_winnebago_journey_36l_tow_vehicle/index.html
Can't make it paste "live"...sorry.
Personally, I am drawn to the restored Vintage-Bus homes...but guess one better be prepared for additional expenses with one eh?
Also I was looking at a Bank repo place (crankyape.com) and saw many practically brand new motorhomes close (final bids) at incredible deals! Might be worth a look if you had a good mechanic with you?
How exciting tho! LadyDi

Hey Jennifer...too bad the weather got in the way, but at least you have begun to narrow your focus to the units that suit your planned lifestyle. There is always enough time to make the right decision.

Good morning Jennifer,

Winnebago does make a nice coach.
Slide outs will make a WORLD of a difference when living in your unit fulltime (we have four of them)!
And you didn't "wimp" out at all! You were going by your gut feeling and decided you didn't feel safe test driving at that moment in time. You are doing your "homework" by touching, seeing, feeling and thats the only way to find the right RV for you. And you're doing it alone at that! Hats off to you! Screw the "guys laughing at you"! They are obviously jealous and insecure individuals.
I'm glad that you took the time to go through various units. Now you will have a better idea of what exactly it is you will be comfortable living in. The best of luck on finding "The One"! Can't wait to see the beauty you choose! Are you going to name him/her?!! LOL.
Have a beautiful day!
